- Highline Community College - Being a program of Highline has been key to StartZone’s success. Highline has a long-standing commitment to business and economic development in the region and a variety of business development programs including the Small Business Entrepreneurship Certificate Program, the Small Business Development Center, the Center of Excellence in International Trade, Transportation and Logistics, and the Business Attraction Program, among others. StartZone benefits from Highline’s outreach infrastructure, relationships with the business community, extensive ESL program, vocational training programs, business and economic development programs and faculty and staff resources, all of which are being leveraged for the benefit of StartZone and its members. - SKCEDI - StartZone is an adjunct of the Southwest King County Economic Development Initiative (SKCEDI), a cooperative effort on the part of King County, the Port of Seattle, the cities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac and Tukwila, and unincorporated North Highline to enhance investment and employment opportunities in Southwest King County. The partners have created several programs to help local businesses including the Small Business Assistance Center and the Southwest King County International Trade Promotion Program. StartZone serves SCKEDI’s mission of working together to promote economic development by initiating projects and programs that focus on small business development and retention in Southwest King County.
- CEL – StartZone is under the auspices of Highline’s Center for Extended Learning and supports CEL’s mission of enriching the community through personal and professional life-long learning opportunities. Click here for more information about CEL.
- SBDC – The Highline Small Business Development Center supports local business owners in their efforts to build profitable businesses, strengthen the local business community and stimulate regional economic growth. Since 2002, the SBDC has been helping promising startups and established small businesses reach the next level by providing no cost business consulting. StartZone has been intentionally designed to serve those not yet ready for SBDC services, moving them along the service continuum with the goal of providing them a warm hand-off to the SBDC once they are on a solid and sustainable footing. - StartNET – StartNET is our advisory group of business and community leaders who know business and have strong connections to business people in our targeted communities. Many belong to our targeted communities. Many are themselves business owners. They are considered a resource by their community. They are civic minded and have a deep personal commitment to giving back to the community. Contact us to learn more about the StartNET Initiative.
- Referral Network – StartZone has developed a network of over 15 referral partners, including microenterprise development organizations, small business development organizations, chambers of commerce and social service organizations.
